The Classic Hits Acoustic Church Tour: Dave Dobbyn & Dukes

Dave Dobbyn will headline the 2010 Classic Hits Acoustic Church Tour and he’ll have plenty of support with members of Christchurch up-and-comers Dukes all set to open the shows.

Parnell welcomes the arrival of the sculpture Mountain Fountain by Terry Stringer to Holy Trinity Cathedral, 446 Parnell Road, Parnell.

Please join us in celebrating the re-siting of Mountain Fountain from Aotea Square to its new home in Parnell. Our celebrations will include the inauguration of the artwork by the artist Terry Stringer and the Hon. John Banks, QSO, Mayor of Auckland city, and a free concert featuring renowned Maori soul diva, Whirimako Black, Parnell's own Stars in Their Eyes winner, Deryn Trainer, and children of Parnell District School performing. Light refreshments will be served in the Cathedral forecourt afterwards.

This free community event is brought to you by Holy Trinity Cathedral, Auckland City Council, and Parnell Inc., the association of Parnell businesses, together with generous sponsorship from Brian Corban, QSO; Gilmours Panmure and the Rotary Club of Parnell.

Pecha Kucha PARNELL!!!

The fabulously indescribable and entertaining Pecha Kucha is coming (at last!) to Parnell on Tuesday September 28th, hosted at Juice Bar and Windsor Castle. Do Not Miss it!

A Pecha Kucha night is an event format in which presenters show a slideshow of 20 images , each of which is shown for 20 seconds — giving a total presentation time of 6 minutes 40 seconds. Each event usually has 8 - 14 presenters. Presenters (and much of the audience) are usually from the design, architecture, photography, art and creative fields.

Organiser and curator, Luka Hinse, is searching for suitably quirky and interesting creative contributors to make presentations on the night, and has around 5 slots to fill. This is your chance to share your work, your story, your secret hobby. From previous PK Nights, anything creatively interesting is a possible candidate.
