Fables Rug Gallery

Fables Rug Gallery, in the historic Foundation Building is a gorgeous medieval space adorned with antique rugs - perfect for that special dinner or cocktail party.

Your function at Fables will be a stylish and out of the ordinary event. Whether it be a cocktail party, dinner, product launch, concert or a wedding, Fables will cater to your every need.

Cocktail Parties
Fables is ideal for this type of function. The large airy Main Gallery, the striking Foyer, the more intimate Verandah, all set amongst antique and decorative rugs, provide a variety of flow through spaces in which guests can mingle and be entertained. Dinners
Table served or Buffet. The Main Gallery can accommodate up to 60 people on one large banquet table covered with rugs. Large candelabra, and overhead flower arrangements create a wonderful spectacle. The Main Gallery can accommodate 120 people, seated at round tables.

The Foyer offers the same service and variety for smaller dinners.
TriBeCa restaurant can cater for your Fables event (see TriBeca entry below).

Music The ambience at Fables lends itself to Jazz style or Classical groups, providing a range from background to more interactive entertainment. Fables also has a baby grand piano that may be used.

Xmas Parties
Our lower back dining area can seat approximately 30 people and, with the French doors opening onto the private courtyard area we can seat a further 24 out there. If the whole back area is used we can seat a further 20 in the upper back level.

There are several options for Xmas groups:

1.Set menu – selection of starters, choice of 3 mains, choice of 3 desserts. Food only cost $30 per person.

2. Buffet style main course – Make your own Fajitas with a selection of starters & choice of dessert. Food only cost $35 per person.

Drinks either on a bar tab or paid individually with our numbering system.

Lunch times also available – with all the above options or we will work with individual groups to cater to their needs.

Private Dining Room
Fully self contained with its own bar, music system, bathrooms, fireplace and adjoining enclosed pergola, our Private Dining Room provides a wonderful cosy and elegant setting for your next social event.  This exclusive space is ideal for private dinners, cocktail parties, business lunches and special occasions such as farewells, weddings or birthdays.

The private dining room caters for up to 40 guests for a seated dinner or up to 65 guests with the use of the attached Pergola area.  Up to 120 guests can be accommodated for a cocktail function.

Mezzanine
If you are looking to entertain a larger group for a sit down meal then The Mezzanine at Iguacu is just the place.  Upstairs, tucked away from the crowds, it offers spectacular views of the Domain and Auckland City's skyline and has its own private bar and bathroom facilities. Available for up to 90 dining guests or 150 for a cocktail function.

The Balcony
Upstairs at Iguacu is The Balcony, which provides diners with a stunning elevated position and an abundance of natural light.  This special space offers a unique and exclusive dining setting.

The Ivory Lounge

- AUCKLAND'S ONLY DUELLING PIANO VENUE

The Ivory Lounge at the top of Parnell, where you can hear all your favourite sing-along retro hits live on two grand pianos, is now available for function hire.

We can cater for your smaller functions with roped-off areas 7 nights a week and for your larger/exclusive venue hire (for groups of 80+) from Monday - Thursday and on Saturdays.

Live Pianos are playing Thursday - Saturday but can be arranged to play at your unique Xmas party (with enough notice given) on any night.

Komodo Club & Cocktail Lounge

We offer Komodo for no room hire & provide at no charge our resident function DJ playing your requests, top cocktail bartenders, security, and the services of our functions manager to assist you in attaining a most memorable event. The only cost to you for your function is your bar-tab, which can be operated on either a subsidized drink basis, or open bar if your budget allows.

Komodo has two rooms available, both with comfortable seating and independent moving light effects.

The Copper room (featuring our magnificent laser lightshow) is the main room– for a guest list of 120 - 150 people. The Bamboo room (featuring our 3D Komodo dragon wall mural) is the private lounge – An intimate setting for minimum 50 to 90 people.

Komodo has a supervised status which means under 18's may attend functions so long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. You can pre- order a wide range of refreshments from our menus. Our catering manager can prepare a suggested menu c/w costs if you wish.

Music plays an important part of any function, so you may notify us of your favourite songs by email to komodo@xtra.co.nz at least one week prior to the function. You and your guests may also request songs on the night
