2009 Parnell Inc AGM: 8 September
Special Resolution to become a Business Improvement District

Parnell Inc is to hold its 2009 AGM on Tuesday 8 September at 6pm, in the Titoki Room, Jubilee Building, 545 Parnell Road. All members and associate members are invited to attend.

At the meeting, members will be asked to vote on a Special Resolution to change Parnell Inc. from a Mainstreet organisation to a Business Improvement District (BID), a framework ratified by Auckland City Council in 2008.

A number of Auckland City 's Mainstreet organisations, including Remuera and Newmarket, have already changed their policies (and supporting constitutions) to become BIDs.

The BID policy builds on the Mainstreet policy and is financially supported by the same levy of a targeted rate over a defined geographical BID area and collected from all non-residential properties within that boundary. (For the 2009/10 financial year Parnell Inc.'s Mainstreet rate is 0.013785 cents in the dollar, giving Parnell Inc a budget for the year of $281.416. This rate would remain in place if the association becomes a BID.)

BIDs, like Mainstreets, are partnership between local government, the business community and other stakeholders. The formation of Business Improvement Districts (BID) is premised upon the understanding that place based problems and issues demand place based responses.

These programmes are long term solutions. They are based on incremental success and local business involvement. Key objectives of the programme are business creation and development, and increased employment and local business investment, together with an enhanced physical environment. The BID programme is intended to identify and promote the profile of a commercial district or business centre.

The BID policy requires business associations to maintain a higher level of business professionalism, with requirements for strategic and business plans, programme benchmarks and key performance indicators, Annual Review and Performance Measurement key to maintaining an efficient organisation.

Members are invited to read Auckland City Council's BID policy and a draft constitution see Parnell Inc.'s page on www.parnell.net.nz.

An invitation to the AGM, and materials relating to the Special Resolution, is being mailed to members today. Please let us know if you intend to attend the AGM, by RSVPing to info@parnell.net.nz or phoning 379 0606.

There has never been a better time to buy property for investment, provided the correct research and time has gone into choosing the right property that suits your situation.

This evening is designed to give you a clear insight to successful and SAFE property investment.  It is purely educational and you can learn everything that you need to know about property investment in under 1 hour!

This is not a property placement or hard sell seminar but an education night designed to give you independent information so that you can go into the market with confidence and total protection.
