The Ivory Lounge

At the top of Parnell Road, Ivory Lounge is a very popular night spot. With live music four nights a week, and the only "Dueling Piano" bar in the country, it is a unique venue for a night out. On Friday and Saturday nights the Ivory Lounges two grand pianos are manned by the country's top pianists/vocalists, including Stars in Your Eyes winner Deryn Trainer, and all your favorite tunes are belted out from 8:30pm-12:30am.The Ivory Lounge has acoustic guitars on Wednesday and a solo pianist performing on Thursday. Juice Bar

The Juice Bar is the new home for live music in the city.

The purpose-built venue, which holds up to 500 people, will see performances from new and record-breaking artists from our own shores as well as further afield. Juice Bar has been set up with musicians and live music in mind, providing a great sound system for both the entertainers and their audience.

Open daily from 4pm with live music from Wednesday to Saturday and special events on other nights, Parnell has been given a new heart.

Shanghai Lil's

Since relocating to Parnell in May, Shanghai Lil's has been getting a lot of media attention.

The New Zealand Herald's Anna Hart wrote the following in "Shanghai Lil's back on the scene" on June 4:

"The shift from bar to restaurant is a new step for Shanghai Lil's, although (Russel) Green has had stints as a chef in a long hospitality career. "I've always loved the concept of 1930s supper clubs, where people can dine, enjoy post-dinner cocktails and have a turn on the dance floor, all in the same venue."

The all-new Shanghai Lil's has been open just a few weeks and has already hosted several "successful first dates", a "wonderfully celebratory" funeral wake and a dance floor takeover by a visiting dance act.

"Shanghai Lil's is all about escapism. I want to provide an extraordinary setting where people feel free to let dramas unfold in their lives - whether it's kissing in a corner, dancing to the piano or meeting a fabulous new friend over a cocktail."

The Windsor Castle
