SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER 2014

On Saturday 6 December 2014, from 12pm – 4pm, Heard Park in Parnell will be filled with live performances, Christmas fun fare, the giant Parnell Christmas Tree, Santa Claus and exuberant festive cheer.

Parnell, an innovative business hub and well-known boutique shopping area is making its festive mark, providing the suburb with its very own ‘Carols in the Park’: a carnival of Christmas celebrations in an afternoon fit for families, friends and children.

From 12pm – 3pm Santa Claus and his trusty Elf will be sitting on his throne in Heard Park, to welcome the children and enliven the Christmas spirit.

A very special, feature performance from the internationally travelled Aotea Youth Symphony strings sextet will perform a mix of festive pieces, as well as their own collection, for an extended set during the afternoon. Conducted by Paul Harrop.

Renowned Holy Trinity Cathedral choir are performing traditional carols: this is a rare opportunity to see the choir performing in a unique setting.

Parnell District School’s dance troupe will be along with their routines too, making a great time to support the youth of Parnell.

Choral group, Laudamus, also have their line-up ready with carols, Christmas songs and the like, to get everyone into the festive spirit.

Sausage sizzles, market stalls and Balloon Twisters will all be adding to the festival atmosphere: perfect for children and adults alike.

The deck chairs will be out on the grass for the crowds to soak up the atmosphere and entertainment. Live performances with caroling, music and dancing will take place continuously throughout the event.

Visitors can also enjoy boutique shopping, restaurant and café dining all in the one diverse and beautiful surroundings of Parnell.
