Come to Parnell to celebrate Diwali, The Festival of Light, at Auckland Museum on Saturday 12 November.
From 10am-12pm, take part in an interactive Rangoli and Mehndi activity hosted by artist Sarah Dutt. The workshops include pre-printed Rangoli and Mehndi colouring-in designs, with professional artists who can either transform your own design on your hand or have some simple designs you can choose from on the day.
At 10am, 11am and 2pm, you can watch a special Indian Classical Dance: Mudras and Storytelling demonstration. This activation gives the history of the ancient Bharatanatyam practice and then moves into a lesson on Mudras – the hand gestures used to tell stories. This demonstration will be facilitated by Mandy Rupa-Reid (Dance Artist) and is for all to enjoy.
At 12pm and 1pm, performers from Anuradha School of Dance will showcase beautiful classical dances. Dance performances are 15 minutes in duration.
