The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s wind and brass musicians shine in this upcoming fascinating French programme to be held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Stravinsky qualifies by having written his sprightly Octet while living in Biarritz, France. Dukas’ La Péri is the archetypal fanfare. Rameau is perhaps the most suave Baroque composer ever, and the tradition of Gallic musical wit is epitomised in Poulenc’s jolly Suite française and Bernard’s Divertissement.
