Force of Nature
7-20 October
In her upcoming exhibition, Force of Nature, Pamela Wolfe turns her gaze from the cultivated order of gardens to the wild persistence of nature left untamed. These six new paintings are drawn from her own backyard, where a season of neglect allowed weeds to thrive and transform into something unexpectedly monumental.
Wolfe reflects: “In this exhibition I abandoned the idea of a cultivated garden and turned instead to the unruly patch in my own backyard, where the weeds had taken on a sense of grandeur after a long summer of neglect. They were the definite winners in this battle for survival, and seemed to me to mirror current events in the wider world.”
