Homecoming
25 June—9 July
Homecoming, the aptly titled upcoming exhibition of Rob Tucker, is his first exhibition on New Zealand shores in over a decade. Rob’s international journey has seen him hold successful exhibitions in the UK, USA, Australia and Asia—he has even exhibited at the Royal Academy.
Residing in Auckland, Tucker has established himself as a unique presence in the art world with his interpretations of figurative still lifes and landscapes. His artistic expression, marked by geometric shapes, streamlined forms and a vibrant colour scheme, nods to the aesthetics of mid-century modern design, while evoking the spirit of David Hockney’s era of pop-art and abstraction.
Tucker’s still life paintings draw inspiration from creating sparse clusters showing his fascination between space and shape. His colour palate, whilst joyful and exuberant, is applied in such a manner to create contrast and effect with bold painted lines being paired with soft pastels.
