Body Language: 5 – 25 August
Body Language is a group exhibition that presents figurative works by a talented group of New Zealand artists. Figurative art holds a mirror up to the viewer, reflecting back unique visions of our world and the people in it.
For the figurative artist, there are endless ways to interpret and represent the human form. Some artists are drawn to create a compelling likeness of a person, so convincing that the eye sees it as real. While others abstract and conceptualise, taking the viewer on an imaginative journey to an alternate reality. Whatever the approach, the viewer is invited to respond to the figure/s in the work, interpreting subtle cues that say more than words can.
