A Figurative Group Show
20 March—4 April
For artists specialising in figurative art, there are endless ways to interpret and represent the human form. Certain artists strive to craft a lifelike representation of individuals, so convincing that it resembles a photograph. While others abstract and conceptualise, employing symbolism and emotional storytelling.
Regardless of whether it’s a vivid portrayal of reality or a delve into the psyche, figurative artworks serve as instruments of identity: reflecting our image, embodying who we perceive ourselves to be, and how we aspire to present ourselves to the world.
Pablo Picasso once pondered, “Who perceives the human face correctly: the photographer, the mirror, or the painter?”
The artists of this exhibition explore the layered offerings the medium of painting brings to depicting the figure.
