The Daylight Show recognises Peggy Guggenheim’s pioneering spirit and her influential Daylight Gallery within “Art of This Century” in 1940s New York.
This exhibition celebrates emerging artists currently practicing in Aotearoa, showcasing their diverse perspectives and innovative approaches. In tribute to Peggy Guggenheim’s exhibition 31 Female Artists, the show highlights the contributions of emerging artists in Aotearoa, reflecting Guggenheim’s legacy of advocating for underrepresented voices. Drawing inspiration from Peggy Guggenheim’s dedication to promoting new talent and pushing artistic boundaries, The Daylight Show brings together a dynamic group of artists who reflect the diversity and creativity of contemporary Aotearoa.
Each artist contributes a voice to the dialogue on art today, echoing Guggenheim’s belief in the power of art to challenge, inspire, and provoke. The exhibition explores themes of identity, environment, history, and the intersection of traditional and modern practices. Through various mediums, the artists delve into personal narratives, social commentary, and explorations of materiality.
