Walking into a pâtisserie is an experience that can overwhelm your senses—in the best way possible. We might be thousands of miles away from the French origins of this spectacular craft but we are so lucky that throughout New Zealand, there are pâtisseries honouring this profession and putting their own spin on things too.
Neat Places has scoured Aotearoa for the best pâtisseries we have to offer, and Parnell favourites Atelier Shu and Vaniyé Patisserie have both made it into their top 9!
Vaniyé Patisserie
Just off the busy Parnell Road, you will find the passion project pâtisserie of husband and wife team, Sonia and Laurent Haumonté. Walking through the front doors you will be wowed by the cabinet full of delectable, delicate pastries and sweets. It’s hard to narrow down your choice to just one thing, so best to choose several. And better still, if you have a celebration on your hands, they make the most impressive cakes that are certain to be a crowd-pleaser.
Atelier Shu
Atelier Shu combines two great loves of the French… patisserie and style. Entering this Parnell patisserie feels like stepping into a luxury fashion boutique on the streets of Paris, with beautiful design details at every turn. Once you have finished marvelling over the interiors of the space, it’s time to start drooling over the hand-crafted pastries. The team here are skilful in their balance of infusing traditional patisserie with global flavours and creativity.
