Calling all opera enthusiasts—and the opera-curious too!
As NZ Opera prepare for their season of Le comte Ory, they’re extending an open invitation to Te Ra Tūwhera, their very first NZ Opera Open Day of 2024.
They’ll be throwing open the big roller door of their Parnell studios and inviting the community inside for an exciting day of behind-the-scenes experiences. Explore sets and costumes; see the hair, wigs and makeup team in action; learn about the intricacies and idiosyncrasies of conducting and singing for the form; and get a rare glimpse at the hard, rewarding work that goes into the staging of a main-scale opera.
This is a free, family-friendly event, and all are welcome. Nau mai haere mai ki te whare o NZ Opera!
