A symphony of sound and light is coming to Heard Park this winter!
There’s something magical about walking through fairy lights on a cold winter evening. Add some musical talent on a Friday night, and you’ve got yourself a bit of winter wonderland!
From 21 June to 19 July, the trees in Heard Park, will be lit up and changing colour to add magic to the heart of Parnell. These lights create an ambience for celebration and reflection, perfect for the Matariki season. The sparkling trees not only look magnificent, but they have a hidden talent too—they are responsive to sound. Such an installation has never been enjoyed in Parnell until now.
Wander the park after work or with loved ones, friends and family, or take a moment for yourself and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by magical light. If you feel like you’ve got a song in you, belt it out and see the trees respond!
With the installation being active nightly, every night will be a shining bit of winter magic on Parnell—but make sure you don’t miss Fridays. On Friday nights in Heard Park while the installation is live, grab a free hot drink from Mrs Sippy coffee cart and enjoy some of New Zealand’s finest musicians as they park up under a tree and make it twinkle to their talent. From saxophone to singing, a mini grand piano and even an accordion, come and have a Friday night party in the prettiest Parnell Park.
*Please note, Friday night events will only be cancelled if the weather suggests it may be a Health & Safety concern. If it’s drizzling, come along and rug up. It will be worth it!
On Friday 21 June, 5, 12 and 19 July from 5-7pm, we’ll be giving away vouchers* for local vendors. Upload a photo of Heard Park After Dark to Instagram, tag @parnellauckland and your chosen vendor, and show your post to a Parnell crew member in order to redeem one of the following vouchers*:
*Ts & Cs apply. Limited vouchers are available each Friday evening and will be handed out on a ‘first come, first served’ basis to verified Instagram shares.
