Pedestrians wandering along Parnell Road will now enjoy a safer, smoother experience thanks to recent maintenance updates to the streetscape. As part of our ongoing advocacy with Auckland Council entities on behalf of Parnell’s local businesses, Auckland Transport and Auckland Council have delivered both aesthetic and practical improvements along our main thoroughfare.
BENCH REFRESHES

Next time you’re waiting for the bus outside Tank, take a moment to enjoy the spruced-up bench. Previously in dire need of a fresh coat of paint, this bench has now been restored to look welcoming and clean for public transport users and pedestrians looking for a place to rest.
FROM DEAD STUMPS TO NEW TREES

The old tree stumps that used to sit outside 149 Parnell Road offered nothing aesthetically pleasing or environmentally beneficial to the area. We are thrilled to share that new trees have been planted in their place, and we can’t wait to watch them grow!
REMEDYING TRIP HAZARDS

While Parnell Road’s brick footpaths are iconic, they can easily become a hazard when tree roots push them up from underneath. In multiple spots along the road, uneven bricks had created dangerous and inaccessible surfaces. Thankfully, these have now been levelled out and made safe for everyone.

NEW TREES IN FRASER PARK

This refresh project doesn’t just apply to the footpaths, and Fraser Park has also received some maintenance! Next time you wander along Parnell Rise, look out for the 15 new trees that were planted by the Auckland Council Arborist Team. We are immensely grateful for these additional trees, which were planted as part of the council’s Urban Ngahere programme. Our General Manager, Adriana, met with the team while they worked. Some of the staff were also present back in 1995 when the London Plane Trees were planted!

We hope you enjoy these improvements! Advocating for streetscape upkeep is an important part of our role at the Parnell Business Association and these little fixes can go a long way in making Parnell more accessible and aesthetically pleasing.
