Metro magazine has just announced that Ed Verner’s Pasture has taken the Supreme Award for his intimate six-seater parnell restaurant, as well as winning Best Chef in the 2019 Metro Peugeot Restaurant of the Year awards.
Metro magazine has released its annual list of the top 50 restaurants in Auckland and once again there are several Parnell restaurants featured. To earn a place in the prestigious top 50, restaurants must excel not only in terms of food, but also service, drink quality, atmosphere, design and character.Finalists include Pasture, Rosie, Han and Woodpecker Hill.
Jesse Mulligan recently visited Pasture for a Herald Viva Magazine restaurant review, and labelled it “world class” and gave it a perfect rating.
Denizen tells us their favourite places to eat and drink in Parnell, from early morning to late at night. “Parnell is experiencing something of a second coming. The beautiful suburb, long admired for its sleek homes and refined residents seems to be adding more and more culinary destinations to its ranks, and we’re not mad about it”.

The opening of Fang comes with its own wacky backstory inspired by 1970s rock opera Quadrophenia. Concrete Playground encourage patrons to sample the ten-hour braised pork and crystal skin dumplings, out of the box creations including dumplings filled with smoked gouda; roasted cauliflower and broccoli topped with sesame mayo, puffed buckwheat and shaved parmesan; plus a trio of mini nori cones filled with salmon tartare, avocado puree and caviar.
Denizen interviewed the husband and wife duo Aaron Carson and Fran Mazza who have opened a new eatery on average every 10 weeks with the latest addition to their stable being Chinese fusion restaurant, Fang in Parnell.

Denizen profiled the ‘handsome workplace’ on the fourth floor of the Textile Centre and interviewed the team behind this ’boutique private members workspace’, to find out what really set Textile Lofts apart. Besides their considered approach to residents and various membership options, they concluded that being surrounded by Saint George’s Bay Road’s ‘ever-expanding lineup of design-orientated businesses and eateries with the right kinds of people to frequent them, it’s certainly a good vibe down that part of Parnell.
