Public Transportation
Public Transportation to Parnell is well serviced by both buses and train. For tourists travelling, a popular option is the Hop On Hop Off bus, which includes stops at Auckland Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, and Parnell Village. Auckland Transport bus routes also connect Parnell attractions to the City Centre and central suburbs.
The Parnell Train Station sits on the South City line, which travels from Pukekohe in South Auckland through the city centre in a loop to Newmarket. For visitors wishing to train between cities, the Strand Station is the departure and arrival point for both Te Huia (Auckland to Hamilton) and Northern Explorer (Auckland to Wellington).

Train Services
Parnell Train Station is on the South City line of the City Rail Link. The South City line travels from Pukekohe in South Auckland through the city centre in a loop to Newmarket. This loop connects Parnell to Waitematā, Te Waihorotiu, Karanga-a-Hape, Grafton, and Newmarket Stations. The South City line also travels to Puhinui Station, where you can transfer for connecting services to Auckland Airport. Trains run every 15–30 minutes. Travel one stop to Waitematā Station for easy transfer to the East West Line, or to Newmarket for the Onehunga West line.
There are multiple access points to Parnell Train Station. If you wish to park at the train station, paid parking by Secure Park is available. Enter the carpark via 23 Cheshire Street.
You can walk to Auckland Museum from the Parnell Train Station through Auckland Domain. This walk takes 10-15 minutes.
There are two accessible paths to/from the Parnell Station. The Heather Street path connects to the intersection of Heather Street & Bedford Street, which is then a short walk to Parnell Rise and Parnell Road. This allows for easy transfer to the Inner and Outer Link Bus Routes. The second accessible path connects to ‘ Lovers Walk’ in Auckland Domain, as well as to Carlaw Park.
The Rail Replacement Bus no longer services Parnell.
RBS buses service the South City line (S-C) between Te Waihorotiu and Pukekohe.
The RBS will connect you to major bus interchanges on the outskirts of the city centre such as Newmarket and Grafton. From here you can get a high-frequency service such as the Inner Link or Outer Link into Parnell.
Buses will not service Parnell, Waitematā and Karanga-a-hape to reduce bus volumes in the City Centre.
The Strand Station—Inter-city Trains
The Strand Station is the arrival and departure point for two inter-city train services: Te Huia and Northern Explorer.
Connecting the Waikato and Auckland, Te Huia is capable of carrying over 500 passengers per day, transforming the journey of those travelling between Hamilton, Huntly and Auckland.
Timetable
Te Huia runs daily return services from Frankton (Hamilton) to The Strand (Auckland) Monday to Sunday.
The service has an estimated running time of 2 hours 30 minutes from Frankton to Strand.
Peak times for Te Huia are from 6am-9am and 3pm-6.30pm during weekdays.

Northern Explorer Auckland to Wellington trains depart southbound on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
Northern Explorer Wellington to Auckland trains depart northbound on Friday, Sunday, and Wednesday.
Bus Services

The Red Inner Tour runs year-round, stopping at Auckland Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, and Parnell Village.
The Summer Bonus Blue Tour runs from October to April, and stops at Auckland museum and the Wintergardens.
Inner LINK:
The InnerLink is the easiest way to get around Auckland’s inner city. The Inner Link bus is green, and connects Parnell to Britomart/Waitematā, Spark Arena, Newmarket, Auckland Hospital, Karangahape Road, Ponsonby, Three Lamps. Victoria Park, and Viaduct.

Outer LINK:
The Outer Link bus is orange, and connects Parnell to St Lukes, Mt Albert, Pt Chevalier, Westmere, Herne Bay, Three Lamps, Victoria Park, Universities, and Newmarket.

The 755 bus route services different areas of Parnell, and is the most convenient way to access The Strand Station (for the Te Huia Train), Parnell Rose Gardens, Auckland Rose Park Hotel, and Parnell District School.
The 755 has stops along The Strand, Gladstone Road, and St Stephens Ave, pictured in the diagram in blue.
This route connects Parnell to Remuera, Newmarket, and Britomart/Waitematā.
Buses are scheduled every 20–30 minutes.
Tāmaki Drive—Bus Services to Parnell Baths
The Tāmaki Link, 76, 774, and 775 bus routes all go along Tāmaki Drive, stopping at the Parnell Baths bus stop.
From here, visitors can access Parnell Baths via the Point Resolution Footbridge (NOTE: This bridge is not accessible for wheelchair users, pushchairs, or people with limited mobility).
An AT HOP card offers concession fares plus account features that put you in control. An AT HOP card can be used on bus, train, and ferry services operated by Auckland Transport.
