Public Transportation

Train and Bus Transport

Public Transportation to Parnell is well serviced by both busses and train. For tourists, a popular option is the Hop On Hop Off bus and the City Link Bus service the most frequent for everyday commuting around the city. 

Parnell Train Station

In March 2017 the Parnell train station opened, which has greatly assisted with accessibility into Parnell, providing great links to the Parnell Town Centre, The Domain and Museum. From Sunday the 26th of August 2018 Parnell Station will be serviced by both the Southern Line and the Western Line trains. Ticket gates are being arranged for installation in the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Note: If you are travelling on the Onehunga line you will need to disembark at Newmarket and connect to either the Southern or Western Line to stop in Parnell.

Bus Services

Hop On Hop Off Tours

See Auckland’s major sights and attractions with a hop-on hop-off city bus tour. Perfect for first-time visitors to Auckland, it’s a great way to explore the city. Choose between the Auckland Explorer Bus and Soaring Kiwi Tours.

Link Bus Services

LINK bus services are the easiest way to get around Auckland. Just look for the red, green or amber buses. 

There is no need for a timetable as each service operates on such a frequent basis. Simply head to the appropriate bus stop and wait for the right coloured bus.

Inner LINK:
The InnerLink is the easiest way to get around Auckland’s inner city. It operates from the Britomart train station, out to Parnell, through Newmarket, along Karangahape Rd, Ponsonby Road, past Victoria Park and then back to Britomart via SkyCity. The buses are bright green. 

Timetable

Monday to Friday: Every 10 to 15 minutes from 6.10am to midnight*

Weekends and Public Holidays: Every 15 minutes from 6.20am to midnight*

Normal bus fares apply.

Outer LINK:
The OuterLink is the easiest way to get around the inner suburbs of Auckland city. It operates from Wellesley Street, past the Universities, through Parnell, Newmarket, Epsom, Balmoral, Mt Eden, St Lukes, Mt Albert, out to the Meola Rd entrance to MOTAT, through Westmere, Herne Bay and then back to Wellesley Street. The buses are bright amber. 

Timetable

Monday to Friday: Every 12 to 15 minutes from 6.00am to midnight*
Weekends and Public Holidays: Every 15 minutes from 6.00am to midnight*

CENTRAL AUCKLAND NETWORK MAP

The 755 bus travels from Britomart to Lucerne Road (via Benson Rd to Martin Ave). With the current route from Britomart being along the Strand, up Gladstone Road, through Canterbury Place, then along St Stephens Avenue to Brighton Road. From there it travels along Shore Road up Portland Road to Remuera Road. Then down Orakei Road to Benson Road where the service terminates in Lucerne Road. The service to town starts from Lucerne Road, travels to Martin Avenue where it meets back up with Benson Road to continue its journey in the reverse direction back to Britomart. 

This service is classed as a Connector Service, which means busses will travel at least every 30 minutes, 7am – 7pm, 7 days a week. Frequencies may be lower early mornings and evenings.
