It’s finally here – the 36th America’s Cup presented by PRADA.

With the America’s Cup Race Village open and the racing about to begin, Auckland is ready to come alive as the battle to claim the world’s oldest sporting trophy returns once again to our shores.

Here’s what Aucklanders and visitors to Auckland need to know to get in on the action and enjoy the start of the racing.

The 36th America’s Cup presented by PRADA includes three events spanning December to March. With races sailed closer to the shore than any past America’s Cup campaign and plenty of ways to watch, the events will be inclusive and inviting to anyone who wants to get in on the action!

The America’s Cup World Series Auckland, 17 – 20 Dec 2020
Racing for the Christmas Cup, all three challenges will take on defender Emirates Team New Zealand for the first event of the racing cycle in New Zealand. Races will take place between 3:00 and 6:00 PM each day.

The PRADA Cup, 15 Jan – 22 Feb 2021
Next up, the PRADA Cup will see challengers face off in a series of round robins – with the first to score seven points taking on Defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the 36th America’s Cup Match. Races will take place between 3:00 and 6:00 PM each day.

The 36th America’s Cup Match, 6 – 21 March 2021
The final event, The 36th America’s Cup Match will see the defender take on the winner of the PRADA Cup in an epic battle to keep – or claim – the America’s Cup. Races will take place between 4:00 and 6:00 PM each day. View racing calendar.

On the days where there isn’t racing or before the days racing starts, why not use this opportunity to swap one village for another, and take a wander through the historic Parnell Village shopping precinct. Located only a short 10 minute walk from the CBD, Parnell is the space you’ll find something that will delight and impress. So, wander and explore a world of superior design stores, fabulous restaurants, fine art, and quirky shops that offer a certain something you just can’t find anywhere else in Auckland.
