The owls of the Haier Big Hoot Auckland 2018 have landed and one of these beautiful creatures has chosen Fraser Park as its home to roost until the 6th of May.
Painted by Kelly Spencer and Inspired by Edward Learʼs 1971 poem ʻThe Owl and the Pussycatʼ, Kelly has taken elements from the poem and reconstructed the narrative to be accommodated by the owls form.
The Haier Big Hoot is a city-wide public art trail celebrating the creative work of artists, communities, children and young people.
A total of 47 giant owl sculptures uniquely decorated by Kiwi artists have roosted all around Auckland, joined by 60 fantastic owlets, many created by local school students.
On the 29th of May, these amazing owls will all be auctioned in aid of Child Cancer Foundation. All funds raised at the auction will go towards ensuring Child Cancer Foundation continues to provide practical, emotional and financial support to Kiwi kids with cancer and their families.
