Vibrant and expressive glimpses of cherished Kiwi summer memories will illuminate our Beacons of Light this Christmas season, thanks to esteemed painter Tony Ogle.
Represented locally by Parnell Gallery, Tony’s vibrant works featured the coastal scenery of New Zealand and express an authentic connection to the landscape.
This year’s Beacons of Light feature five of Tony’s iconic paintings, each telling their own story of a summer memory—from adventures on Great Barrier Island and Piha’s iconic Lion Rock, to the ubiquitous baches, Pohutukawa and sun umbrellas found across the country.
“I feel privileged to have had my works selected for the Beacons of Light project,” says Tony. “I can’t wait to see this new utilisation of my images backlit in all their rich colour for the public to enjoy.”
Tony’s artworks begin as acrylics painted on board, which are then translated into limited edition screen prints, many of which have sold out. While some of Ogle’s originals have been sold in the past, 60—including several of his most iconic works—were showcased and made available for purchase for the first time during a sold-out retrospective exhibition at Parnell Gallery earlier this year, celebrating his 30-year career. Now, these captivating pieces can be further enjoyed by the public at Heard Park.
Beacons of Light will be on display at Heard Park, Parnell, from 20 November—6 January.
