The Parnell Business Association has been working in conjunction with Chorus and various local artists to beautify Chorus Cabinets throughout Parnell, and the latest addition is truly out of this world!
Located outside Space Station at 110 St Georges Bay Road, Hura te ao gecko/ Mokopiriraukau Galaxia was recently completed by Kiwi artist Paul Walsh. Hura te ao gecko have black eyes, orange lips and fine spots. They were only discovered in 2018, have currently only been found in two mountain ranges in North Otago, and are considered threatened. They are named after the break of dawn, represented by the orange and yellow colouring on their face which is pushing back the stars (the dots on their back).
As this cabinet was directly in front of long-standing Parnell business Space Station, we thought the fit was quite appropriate.
All cabinets are made possible by funding from Chorus and The Parnell Business Association.
