The Strand Café
Saatchi & Saatchi Building
125 The Strand
Parnell
“Located on the ground floor of the sun-drenched foyer, this café is the idyllic spot for breakfast and lunch, offering both eat in and quick bite options to takeaway. Helmed by the duo behind the acclaimed Shortland Street cafe Grassy Knoll, Roy and Tash set out to further enhance the building’s greatness with their modern and delicious dining destination. Key to the operation is their outstanding chef Petra Galler (previously at Little Bird Organics), who has created a menu brimming with delicious, diverse options, from raw and vegetarian dishes, to heartier meat-centric ones.
The standouts include their newly minted paleo bowl, with dukkah crusted soft egg, Middle Eastern kumara, house smoked salmon and cavolo nero (also known as black kale), and the utterly mouth-watering Reuben sandwich, oozing with roast beef, Gruyere cheese, house-made sauerkraut and horseradish cream, with plenty more on the menu to choose from. Frequent visitors will never tire with their specials changing fortnightly – bringing to the table delectable options such as the slow-cooked brisket tortillas with jalepeño peppers and polenta chips. For those in a hurry, their bench top teems with sweet and savoury offerings – chia puddings, mueslis, sandwiches, cakes and a choice of a raw, vegetarian or protein salad boxes that change daily.
Worth adding is that they cater for both large and small events, offering their modern industrial space as a stylish venue that’s known to be booked out well in advance. Whether you’re after a quick bite on the go, or a social sit-down lunch, you’ll be impressed by this café’s fantastic fare and slick, refined environment.”
Open Monday to Friday from 7am.
