Va Bene has opened its doors to the neighbourhood. Bringing its own elevated take on the friendly charm of Parisian and Italian wine bars.
Helmed by Parnell locals Esmeralda Kasmara (Bandung) and Brent Newdick (Aperitivo) along with friend and chef Paul Patterson, the trio all bring their global experience to the venture.
A long darkly-marbled shared table takes centre place in the middle of the restaurant with the aim to encourage people to get to know their dining companions even if they didn’t arrive together. There are also smaller, high tables around the edge of the room for those who prefer their own space when dining out.
Chef and co-owner Paul Patterson is in charge of the culinary side and diners can enjoy either small or more substantial shared plates that are described as “Big flavours, but really simple”. Nothing overly fussy, but high-quality, seasonal fare that delivers a substantial and satiating payoff.
No matter whether you pop in for a glass of something good and a tasting platter, or a full meal of mouth-watering sharing plates, we’ve sure you’ll enjoy the experience.
