We live for new openings (especially the kind that involves food) and know you do, too. Fortunately, Auckland is the city that just keeps on giving when it comes to new restaurants, bars, cafes and bakeries—we really are a lucky bunch.
So without further ado here are the best new restaurant and foodie openings in Parnell, according to Urban List.
269 Parnell Road
It seems like 269 Parnell was under construction for millennia, so much so that we’d long stopped expecting anything to materialise behind it. While the bones of 269 are a market peppered with permanent vendors, the Marble Bar in the square for bevvies, an upstairs hire space for weddings and a soon-to-be-realised Latin bar, the essence is much greater. Somehow Harvey’s captured that gorgeous otherworldly, borderline jaw-dropping hospitality you normally have to be on holiday mode to fully realise.
196 Parnell Road
TwoFold has transformed the old Woodpecker Hill venue into an elevated brewpub, serving some of the tastiest food in the area. Think freshly shucked oysters, fried chicken, and their popular seafood roll packed with crab and lobster. TwoFold isn’t just the place to be for good grub; they also have an in-house brewery headed by Bernard Neate (ex-Alibi Brewing), who makes some of the best beers in the country. He has recently brewed a double hazy IPA called FO’G, which is thick, fruity, and way too easy to drink.
4/177 Parnell Road
An idyllic tea space has brought all the comfort and ease of the Third Space to a champagne glass. Here, life pauses. Here, it’s all about drinking tea and blissing out. In fact, that’s exactly what the name means ‘cha’ being the Chinese word for tea and ‘bliss’, well, we could all do with more of that on the daily. But here the tea is practically unrecognisable—it materialises at your table in creative guises like nitro tea, beer tea, champagne tea, tea lattes, and coffee tea adorned with dainty flowers.
