Since September 2019, Platform 4 Group have been the new Security Provider for Parnell.
CRIME PREVENTION OFFICER
Tua Iro, who has been with Platform 4 Group since 2011 and moved from night patrol to be the new weekday on-foot Crime Prevention Officer. You will see his smiling face roaming the streets of Parnell from now on, so if you have not yet met him, make sure you stop and say hello!
Tua’s schedule is 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week (Tues to Sat). He visits businesses in Parnell on a regular basis and addresses security concerns and issues, follows up on the night report and where necessary liaises with Police, spots and reports graffiti and other anti – social issues in the area such as homelessness. In addition, he is on call to businesses in Parnell when they need to move on beggars outside stores. We have found this role an invaluable resource for the area, building up intelligence of similar incidents in the area and how they are connected, as well as serving as a first alert to undesirables in the area who are sometimes housed in the state housing or WINZ temporary accommodation.
0800 308 003 – Please call if you need assistance with unfavourable social activity, but remember if there is a crime in place or you feel endangered in any way, please call the Police Emergency number 111.
The night time vehicle patrol service. Through a strategic partnership with P4G, Parnell now has a dedicated night time patrol vehicle in the area 7 days a week from 6pm – 6am. This was only achievable thanks to the participation of private businesses and landowners who by signing up with P4G made it possible. As prior to this PBA was only able to fund random patrols through the night. Please be aware, that while the PBA provides this service for the greater precinct, each individual business/landowner is responsible for their own premises and private property that leads off public areas. However, if you are experiencing anti-social behaviour, the call-out service remains the same, so please call 0800 308 003.
NEW – CRIME PREVENTION PLAN – BUILDING THE CAPACITY FOR A FULL TIME 7 DAY DAYTIME GUARD
Parnell dedicated capacity day-time Security Initiative
The next initiative is for the Parnell Business Association (PBA) and Platform 4 Group Limited (P4G) to once again work together for the purpose of funding a day time Crime Prevention Officer Full Time for 7 days a week in Parnell. Currently the PBA are paying for a daytime guard for 5 days a week (Tuesday – Saturday).
Like the night time vehicle patrol initiative, obtaining this goal can only be achieved with the participation of private businesses and or landowners.
Once in place, this service will be able to deliver to the Parnell Precinct and signed up Business operators a proactive and highly visible Crime Prevention Officer tasked with deterring criminal and anti-social behaviour 7 days a week.
Parnell is not immune to burglary and anti-social behaviour, with medium to high security breaches over the years having been recorded, and it’s fair to say the security industry seldom performs to any level of acceptable response time. It is for this very reason the Parnell Security Initiative is being rolled out.
