You are warmly invited to bring a meal to share with strangers, acquaintances and friends on Saturday 27 May 6pm at Chez Derriere, Te Tuhi’s Parnell Project Space at Parnell Station, facilitated by artist Cindy Huang.
The practice of eating together uses food as a means of community building and a way to embrace alternative modes of knowledge. Huang proposes to expand the gallery space towards a site of oral history and collective practice through food.
Considering this, we invite you to bring a meal that speaks to a familial lived experience. Though this may not be your favourite dish, we invite you to bring a meal that has shaped you.
Spaces are limited, so please email Felixe at chezderriere@gmail.com to reserve a place.
This is the first in a food focused series being developed by Chez Derriere in which artists are invited to explore food as material and tool to ground audience experiences. This series explores the bodily practice of eating and the social, in-person rituals of meal sharing to support conceptual engagement.
