Wellington On A Plate is an culinary celebration showcases the incredible range of talent and produce that the Wellington region has to offer—and Parnell is getting a taste of it at Chaat St.
Having garnered a stellar reputation in Wellington for its authentic Indian street food, Chaat St opened earlier this year on Parnell Road. The Wellington restaurant was the 2022 Burger Wellington winner, and Aucklanders can now experience this award-winning burger for themselves.
From Friday 16 June, the ‘Dabeli’ burger will be available at Chaat St Parnell. The vegetarian burger features a crispy dabeli spiced potato patty with Fix & Fogg Smoke and Fire peanut butter, coriander, onions, crispy chickpea noodles and tamarind chutney in a masala butter brioche bun.
Another element of Wellington On A Plate that Parnell locals will get to enjoy is Chaat St’s collaboration with Garage Project in the form of a collaborative brew. ‘All India Permit’ is a spiced hazy pale ale which is brewed with pilsner, wheat and crystal oats matched with tropical Mosaic hops, a subtle touch of anardana (pomegranate seed) amchoor (dried green mango) tamarind and Indian spices. The name is an ode to India’s truck culture and a nod to the organised bootlegging mafia of the 90s.
